KaOnline Access Issues
July 7, 2006
Recently we have received word from several clients via e-mail, phone, LIVE chat, SIM Messages, and through public forum posts that they are unable to access the site via the domain name (https://www.kaonline.biz or https://kaonline.biz). This issue has been popping up ever since our move to Prolexic in May. I personally am in contact with our representative from Prolexic daily trying to resolve this issue. From what I gather the problem has to do with Prolexic blacklisting IP addresses when they are used in conjunction with a DDoS attack. If you cannot ‘see’ the web site using the domain name this does not mean you attacked us, this simply means that an IP in the same range as yours may have been invloved in an attack.
The fact is, that since our move to Prolexic we have seen 100% uptime, but due to the scenario described above some people are unable to ‘see’ the web site.
The Temporary Solution
Even with your IP blacklisted you can ALWAYS view the site using our servers IP address;
Please note that when accessing via the IP address you will receive an error message regarding our SSL certificate as the certificate is issued to our domain name and not to our servers IP address. Your information is still secure, there is no need to be alarmed.
Using the IP address above you should have absolutely no problems accessing the site, and the sites functionality remains at 100% while using the IP, there are no dead links.
SSL Issues
We have also been receiving complaints regarding our SSL certificate. Many of these complaints stem from clients accessing the site via the IP address and then wondering why they are informed that our certificate is invalid or expired. This has already been explained above.
Others are shown an error message that states that the certificate authority, the company who supplies our certificate, XRAMP, is not know or not trustworthy. This error seems to appear when clients use outdated editions of their browsers, as XRAMP is a fairly new company. At any rate we would like to hear from you if you too are given an error message. Please see below for details on how and what information to send us.
Help Us to Create a Permanent Solution
In order for us to diagnose and solve these problems we need some information from you. The following information can be complied and sent to us via the S.I.M. System inside your account. The quicker we can see exactly why these things happen the quicker we can fix them.
a. Screen shots of everything you encounter while trying to access the site (SSL prompt, Certificate details, error messages, everything)
b. Your Computer\’s IP
c. A traceroute to www.kaonline.biz”,1] ); //–>https://66.252.7.182
